About this event
PART TWO:
Foundations of Agility 2
This class builds on the skills included in Foundations of Agility 1 which is a pre-requisite for registering for this course. Handlers will progress to full-sized equipment at competition heights as well as short course sequences and basic handling moves. There will also be an emphasis on teaching the dog to independently complete 12 weave poles. Dogs should be able to be well-controlled off-lead. Classes will be held both indoors and outdoors depending on the weather. Registration priority will be given to students who have completed Foundations of Agility 1, but potential students who have not completed this pre-requisite course may contact the instructor at liveoakpoodles@hotmail.com to discuss registration.
PART ONE:
"This course is designed for dogs with no previous agility experience. Handlers might have trained other dogs or they, too, might be new to agility. The course will introduce the agility obstacles: jumps, tunnels, contacts, and weave poles and will focus on basic skills for both dog and handler (e.g., targets, turns, cone work; jump chutes). Dogs must have completed a basic obedience course andbe reasonably steady off-lead. Dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome. If your dog is under 1 year of age, jumping will be at minimal height no matter the breed/size. Handlers will be expected to crate their dogs if not working in the ring. "Homework" is mandatory."
