This is a eight week class with the end goal of achieving AKC Tricks Titles. Novice and Intermediate tricks will be taught.
All students must pre-register or contact the Training Director to hold your spot as there will be a limit of six students in the class.
Dogs must have completed a Basic Obedience or Manners Class and be good off leash and around other dogs at all times. Dogs may wear prong or choke collars while training, but prong and choke collars are not allowed to be worn during testing. Testing for Tricks Titles will be done as part of the class.
Fees are $85 for non-members and $45 for members for this 8 week session; an additional $25 fee is required to register your dog's Tricks titles with AKC and is not included in the price of the class. Instructor is Sheila Roberts.
RallyFrEe is to Canine Freestyle what AKC Rally is to Obedience. And in case you haven't heard of Canine Freestyle before, it's a mixture of sport and art in which handlers and their dogs perform a choreographed musical routine together, with the object being to showcase the teamwork between handler and dog by performing creative combinations of behaviors set to music.
Do you like music and/or dance? Looking for something fun to do with your dog? Or maybe you already know about Canine Freestyle and would like to learn more about it--and maybe even compete someday? All of those are great reasons to come join us for RallyFrEe! And, as the name implies, it's similar to Rally Obedience in that a course is set up in the ring using signs that indicate what behaviors you and your dog are expected to do. The difference is that these behaviors are all things that can be used in a freestyle routine! (Check out RallyFrEe.com if you'd like to learn more.)
This sport requires the use of force-free, positive reinforcement (R+) training techniques that build and maintain the dog's confidence and help create a trust-based partnership between the two of you.
Dogs will need to wear flat collars or non-restrictive harnesses while in this class, and you'll need to bring a crate for your dog as well as a clicker and lots of tiny, soft treats that go down easily and don't leave a lot of crumbs everywhere! If you have a comfy folding camp chair that you'd like to use rather than a hard, metal folding chair, feel free to bring that along as well.
Prerequisite: Beginning Obedience Class OR successful passing of the CGC test OR evaluation by the Training Director. Fees for this 8-week class are $85 for non-members and $45 for members. Instructor is Chris Rakauskas.
