What are the benefits of the Canine Good Citizen program? CGC
The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program teaches polite, well-mannered behavior in public and encourages responsible dog ownership.
The CGC Program also provides an excellent foundation for training in other fun activities such as Rally, Obedience, and Agility and results in a well-mannered dog who is a joy to live with
Testing for your CGC title is included with the class.
Standalone testing (without enrolling in the class) is available for $25. Please note: AKC charges additional fees when you submit your Title Application to receive your official AKC title.
Prerequisites: All dogs must have completed the Beginner Class, be socialized and able to work politely around other dogs and people in real-life community settings at all times.
AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and Urban CGC (CGCU) are official titles that are both considered advanced CGC titles. Both require CGC as a prerequisite.
CGC Entry Level – The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is a 10-skill training and testing program that teaches dog’s good manners and helps owners practice responsible dog ownership, culminating in an official AKC CGC title for dogs that pass the test.
CGCA – Builds on the CGC by testing your dog in everyday public situations. Noticeably more challenging because your dog must remain focused in real-world environments where distractions are unpredictable, greater independence and builds on handler confidence.
Dogs must haveearned the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title.
CGCU - The highest level in the AKC Canine Good Citizen family. It's designed to demonstrate that a dog can accompany its handler confidently and politely in dog-friendly public places where distractions are constant and unpredictable.
Dogs must haveearned the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGCA) title.

There is an additional fee to be paid to the AKC to obtain the CGC certificate and title.
Prerequisites: completion of a basic obedience class, a good recall, and no aggressive tendencies.
